It is past the middle of July and thunderstorms and tropical depressions keep beating down on Manila and many other parts of the country.

This means amounts of rain close to that of Noah’s time, flood, coats, umbrellas, and yes, footwear that keep my toes dry, even on the wettest of days.

I had been looking for a pair for about a month already, when I had all but given up. Apparently, not many people invest in rain boots in Manila, apart from the uber pricey ones that cost thousands! And, my!!! Why would I invest more than a couple thousand pesos for rain boots, when the less-expensive versions are just as functional and fashion-forward?

Thank God I found a cute, affordable pair, in a color and design that suits me: a psychedelic mix of pink, purple, and black spirals. Something to make rainy days less dreary.
